Together with farmers, we are creating climate change resilience strategy and tools to support farmers with capacity and preparedness through increasing capacity of farming practices, farming and treatment guideline according to weather forecast in one year round and weather early warning system.

What is your story in promoting principle flavor and nutrition?

Farms are owned and operated by smallholder farmers registered as members of the company with a requirement to follow the best practices standards of Ecoshrimp and the Asian Seafood Improvement Collaborative (ASIC) to ensure product quality. There is no use of chemicals and other additives in our ponds. The practices are monitored and evaluated regularly with regular assessments on our farms. Middlemen are connected to the supply chain by being recruited as farmer coordinators with a mandate to monitor practices and extend shrimp stocking and harvest support from the company. This inclusion of middlemen is the first sustainable model that has not been established yet in Indonesia.

PT. Alter Trade Indonesia focuses specifically on processing and exporting of black tiger or monodon shrimp in Indonesia with a comprehensive monitoring and supports for farmers and farming community. Our operation empowers smallholder farmers across main shrimp producing regencies in Indonesia. Our operation primarily focus on creating the welfare of farming community, welfare of employees while increasing capacity building of farmers in managing their farms. Maintaining environmentally friendly practices for traditional tiger shrimp farming for future generations is a constant focus of attention for us. We aim to grow together with farmers to increase their capacity and livelihood while preserving ecosystem balance.
